The aim of the Foundation is to bring the benefits of Fair Trade to an even greater number of farmers and artisans through scaling up training, technical support and environmental initiatives and through raising awareness and campaigning for fair and sustainable fashion.</p><p> </p><p>Emma Watson says; "I wanted to help People Tree produce a younger range because I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with.</p><p> </p><p>I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian and environmental issues surrounding fast fashion and want to make good choices but there aren’t many options out there. It has been the most incredible gap year project.”</p><p> </p><p>Acting as a creative advisor, Emma has worked closely with People Tree’s in-house design team and CEO Safia Minney to create a capsule lifestyle collection. Emma has utilised her love of fashion, great personal style and young perspective to help develop a range that will bring Fair Trade and organic fashion to a new audience.</p><p> </p><p>Launching in late February 2010, The Collection is a spring summer line featuring 26 womens and 15 mens styles in addition to a small accessories offer. A further high summer drop of 8 styles will land later in the season. Clean and easy to wear the collection boasts knitwear, cotton t-shirts and jersey dresses, poplin skirts and shorts. They include: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster, Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman, Ben Stiller, Matt Damon, Viggo Mortensen and Sean Bean, Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, Jack Nicholson, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. <br /> <br />The portraits will then be auctioned in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity at a star-studded event to be held at the Paramount Club, 101-103 New Oxford Street, WC1 on Thursday May 28. When Emma was filming Ballet Shoes the director was looking for a little girl to play the part of the young Pauline when she is first introduced into the film aged 2; we can now exclusively reveal that Emma’s twin sisters Nina and Lucy (who were 3 just last Monday!) were cast and have acted in this role and will therefore appear in the BBC production of Ballet Shoes which will air in the U.K at Christmas time! <br /></p><p>With Emma’s brother (Alex) now having appeared twice as an extra in Harry Potter, and Nina and Lucy spreading their wings in the acting world, Toby is feeling very put out as the only one of Emma's siblings who has not appeared in technicolour this year. Well, we did meet her and talk to her briefly, and I would love to share this story with you and other fans. And, with further luck, Emma will read this and maybe remember us.</p><p> </p><p>Emma was scheduled to promote the "Goblet Of Fire" movie on the Regis and Kelly show in November of 2005. My daughter and I arrived to the studio very early in the morning and we carried with us an "Accio Emma" sign to hopefully get her attention. </p><p> </p><p>Well, apparently, our Summoning Charm worked! Emma's Limo pulled up and went into the studio garage right past us. The garage doors shut and we didn't get to see her. So we decided to wait it out and see if we could see her after the show leaving the studio. Meanwhile, we watched the show from a monitor in front of the studio while drinking hot chocolate.</p><p> </p><p>After Emma finished her interview we again went around to the garage and after a bit, the studio people said she was going to come out for a very short period of time and sign autographs (there was only about 20 of us there). This was further confirmed when her limo came back to pick her up, and stayed outside of the garage on the street instead of pulling into the garage. So we were very excited!!</p><p> </p><p>When she came out from the studio back door, she was with a security person from the studio and also a woman (possible WB rep or publicist- no idea). We were kind of in the back of people because we were trying not to be pushy like some people are, and we were very pleasantly surprised. The woman had asked for the girl with the sign to come up front first. Stephanie was so nervous but excited, you could see the look in her eyes...lol When she went up to Emma, she was ever so pleasant and asked her how she was doing? I don't know if Stephanie said anything or not, but we were both smiling ear to ear. Anyway, Emma did sign our GOF book and Poster (see photos) and after she was done with everyone waved good bye to us.</p><p> </p><p>Again, I would love to say thank you to Emma on here...we wrote to her shortly afterwards to say thanks (we got back her picture and newsletter), but I think this format is a way that Emma will truly be able to see how much of a positive effect she can have on a father and daughter. Emma will play the part of "Pauline", the eldest of 3 orphaned sisters who lead a sheltered life until they begin at the Children's Academy of Dancing and Stage Training. Only then do they begin to discover their special talents and extraordinary ambitions. </p><p>The feature length adaptation of the hugely popular book by Noel Streatfeild begins filming this month and is set to appear on the BBC around Christmas time! It also stars Richard Griffiths, Robert Hardy and Victoria Wood. Today we bring you some exciting news - Emma has been cast to voice the role of Princess Pea in the upcoming animated movie "The Tale of Despereaux". She will be working alongside some of Hollywood's biggest names including Sigourney Weaver, Dustin Hoffman, William H. Macey and reuniting with Harry Potter favourite Robbie Coltrane. </p><p> </p><p>The Tale of Despereaux is a tale of three unlikely heroes - a misfit mouse who prefers reading books to eating them and who is desperately in love with a princess (Emma), an unhappy rat who schemes to leave the darkness of the dungeon, and a bumbling servant girl with cauliflower ears - whose fates are intertwined with that of the castle's princess. And then announces: "Let's spice it up a bit! Let's get a couple of difficult ones. I'm quite happy to answer them." She pauses for a moment, realising what she has just said. "You're going to ask me some bitch of a question, you really are! Bad idea. I should never have said that."</p><p> </p><p>Not old enough to attend nightclubs and with little time for letting loose, the charmingly natural actor hardly has any dirt on her as yet, and will surely never be a Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears.</p><p> </p><p>"You either choose to have your first cigarette and your first glass of wine in a safe environment with your close friends or you can choose to do it in a nightclub in the middle of London. You can actually live a low-key, normal life where the press don't get a chance to know about it."</p><p> </p><p>Clearly today, though, Watson hankers to be a little provocative so I ask her about the prospect of kissing Grint, her suitor in the sixth film, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, which starts filming in September. Director David Yates describes it as being about sex, drugs and rock'n'roll.</p><p> </p><p>"Kissing Rupert's going to be sooo awkward," Watson says, screwing up her cute rosy-cheeked face. "I'm trying not to think about it ... it's all part of the job I guess. Don't tell him I said that. Rupert's lovely. Girls would probably give their left arm to be in my position, so I'm certainly not complaining."</p><p> </p><p>But he's a grunge-loving dude and simply not the kind of boy she's into.</p><p> </p><p>"No, he's not my type," she says.</p><p> </p><p>What is she looking for in a guy? "I love someone who can make me laugh ... who makes me feel I can be myself around them. Confidence is good; arrogance is not. Someone I can really talk to, who doesn't bore me, is genuine, just interesting. Someone I can relax with."</p><p> </p><p>Her list is long. "It's bad isn't it? You have such high expectations. The other way you can look at it is that if I list a lot of attributes, then I'm sort of widening my scope. You don't have to have all the attributes - just one or two will suffice."</p><p> </p><p>The offspring of British lawyer parents, Watson spent her first five years growing up in Paris, and has made regular trips there since. "I went over to Paris to sort out the clothes for this junket and I have a great nostalgia for it. I really love it. I go to whichever hotel it is Warner Brothers have booked us in for to go ..before we go to the premiere and erm, I start to get ready pretty much from the morning right the way through to when I leave to go and do the red carpet! 'Cool place for a party', she suggests before turning down a cup of tea (she never drinks tea or coffee).<br /><br />Modest, clever and self-knowing. Britain's most famous teenage actress is very sure about what likes and where she wants to go. When she was three, her grandmother asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and she gave three answers: a princess, a fairy and a mattress. 'I couldn't quite say actress,' she recalls with a faint blush, But someone was clearly listening because her wish was granted - and in spades.<br /><br />For seven years Emma has played Hermione in the Harry Potter films and it has propelled her into the public eye on a truly international scale. In France she is almost a cult; even in Borneo her face is known. A billion Harry Potter readers will probably visualise her as Hermione over the next decade. Her fame is more extreme than that which Shirley Temple, Elizabeth Taylor, Drew Barrymore and Lindsay Lohan all had as child stars. Never has there been a global phenomenon like Harry Potter, which has taken up almost half of Emma Watson's 17 years. It has meant tutors on film sets, press minders to safeguard her, a chauffer to whisk her to work - and having to change her mobile number every few months to shake off nutters who call with annoying jokes about wands. It has given her what every actress wants: a great female role and near-universal praise for charismatic, captivating performances.<br /><br />It all began one morning in assembly at the Dragon, the top Oxford prep school, when her name was called out. 'I thought I was in trouble or had a detention,' says Emma. 'The school had these things called blue slips and I already had a couple for not handing in homework and for being late.' But it was just the teachers announcing who had been chosen to audition for the first Harry Potter film. Already a fan of the boy wizard, Emma was at the time halfway through the third book.<br /><br />The further she progressed in the audition stages, Emma coveted the part of Hermione more and more. 'Mum and Dad kept trying to make me realise there was only a very small chance because thousands of other children had been seen,' she recalls. 'I was not at a performing-arts school - just a small school in Oxford. But I badly wanted it.' She had a dozen auditions before she was tantalised with the offer of a 'preferred candidate contract', And so her remarkable career was under way.<br /><br />Unlike most pupils, the more Emma was away from school, the more she found she liked being there. 'I know that sounds strange, but when you are filming you never quite know what you are going to be doing each day,' she says. 'You are pulled from place to place and the schedules change. So I really enjoyed the feeling that I was back at school. I wanted to take responsibility for my education instead of being pushed along by it.'<br /><br />This was a girl who always knew that knowledge was empowering. When she was very young she liked learning poems - at the age of seven she won a poetry competition for her recital of The Sea by James Reeves. There was always an element of the performer about her. She would insist on going out to the shops in her favourite fairy outfit or her Sleeping Beauty costume. At 12, she volunteered to sing Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn' at a huge party in a castle in France during the millennium celebrations.<br /><br />With Harry Potter, fame came big-time. 'When the first film was released, someone asked me to sign a book and I remember thinking, "How weird - why on earth would they want my name in the front of a book?" The second and third films were when it really started to go wild. By the fourth it was mad.' Sometimes she finds it all a bit mystifying. 'It is odd how normal courtesies don't seem to apply when people recognise someone,' she says. 'Maybe it's because they think they only have that moment to meet you. A lot of people call me Hermione and forget I am a real person and have another name.' The experience was certainly something to boast about for one eight-year old prep school boy who recently met her on set - his friends' jaws dropped in disbelief when he said he had shared a Coke with her.<br /><br />But it can be daunting and exhausting to have everyone wanting a piece of you. It has made her wary. 'I don't give my number out to people I don't really know I'm careful about it,' she says. And with talk of a stalker in the press earlier this year, the fame game has a creepy side too. Not that she was overly worried. 'That stalker stuff was exaggerated,' she says. To be honest my friends were more freaked out than I was. I'm used to it. My Friends were quite shocked by how blas I was about it.' However high-octane her life, Emma has always remained sane and unspoiled. '[Becoming famous] happened when I was so young but I don't find it difficult to have a nice ordinary life. People who try to hide from fame can make it go completely the wrong way. All those huge designer shades make them look like bugs! And walking around with bodyguards draws more attention to you. I think the best way [to cope with fame] is to try and live as normal life as possible.' That means generally blending into everyday existence at home: taking the bus around Oxford, popping into the supermarket for her mum and going on normal bucket-and-spade holidays. 'Don't worry, my teenage brother Alex keeps me very down-to-earth,' she says. 'He is 14 going on 24 and such a ladies' man - it's impossible being his sister! He keeps me laughing.' She is also close to her parents, who are divorced. She has fond memories of her dad playing records by Bryan Adams, Eric Clapton, BB King and Lloyd Cole and the commotions. She especially recalls the way her mum and dad looked so smart: 'Dad loved his Herms ties!' <br /><br />Emma may be a serious-minded actress but she has a fabulously girlie side too.' I love clothes but I'm actually a really bad shopper. It totally stresses me out,' she says laughing. 'In Oxford I go to Agns B and the little boutiquey shops. Selfridges and Harvey Nicks on London. Do you know Sefton? It's a chain of shops that stocks in-designers. There's another chain called Diverse that has really cool stuff.' One advantage of her film success is that, now she is becoming a 'proper' celebrity, designers are starting to send her clothes. 'Whenever I dress up I want the clothes to be an expression of me,' she says. 'I don't think you should be a clothes horse. Someone telling me what to wear takes all the fun out of it,'<br /><br />She is sophisticated way beyond her years, which perhaps comes from spending her early childhood in France. Her dad owns a vineyard in Chablis. 'I love Spanish and French food. I like the antipasto Massimo in Carluccio's too. All those hams and salamis and sundried tomatoes and French beans - they're lovely.'<br /><br />Emma is highly entertaining about the astonishing things that have happened to her, like the day Brad Pitt suddenly appeared at the studio. 'I had been waiting to see him but then I dropped something. I remember thinking, "Oh no, I'm not standing up to shake his hand - I'm on the bloody floor. What am I doing here?" She has also met Pierce Brosnan, Halle Berry, Johnny Depp and Pharrell Williams.<br /><br />Inevitably, the conversation turns to boys. 'I am not really into any particular type, but I do like guys who are into sport and love it when they speak two or three different languages,' she says. 'Yeah, that really does it for me.' She is currently being wooed by Warner to do another Harry Potter movie. 'I want to do it but haven't signed a contract yet. I definitely intend to do it,' she says. 'I signed up for the first two initially, and then we've done it film by film.' Clearly she loves what she does: 'I would do Harry Potter for nothing. It's not really anything to do with money.'<br /><br />Her description of Hermione sounds remarkably like Emma herself. 'She's definitely a feminist and very intelligent. She's naturally brainy but wants to know everything, every piece of knowledge she can possibly find anywhere, and she also has a great heart. She's a little nervous around people but not scared to say what she thinks and is extremely loyal.'<br /><br />Now she has turned 17, Emma is about to kiss goodbye to being a child actress. Like her co-star Daniel Radcliffe, who has received stunning reviews for his role as the disturbed young man who strips naked in the recent West End production of Equus, she too is entering a new grown-up phase. She is taking AS-levels in English literature, geography and art history, which she loves. She talks with fluency about Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt and her favourite Renaissance painter, Masaccio.<br /><br />Her next plan is to study philosophy at Cambridge. Where does she see herself in 10 years' time? 'There is no rule book for the career I am in. No one tells you how to handle fame or walk down the red carpet or answer questions about yourself. I just hope I get it right. I have been cushioned by the whole Warner thing, so what happens next will be very important. I know I've been very lucky.'<br /><br />Most importantly she has a wise head. No wild child falling foul of drink, drugs and rock 'n' roll she. 'To be honest, I'd bee too frightened to take drugs. I have enough in my life without looking for something else, and I hope that will always be the case'.<br /><br />
